What Is A Wrinkle Relaxer?
Injectable medications designed to temporarily block nerve impulses to facial, jawline & precise neck muscles inducing a state of relaxation. This process effectively smoothens wrinkles (best results with good skin elasticity). This Is also considered a great preventative measure for future lines. Additionally, these injectables can be applied to refine the jawline, address a gummy smile, or offer elevation and contour to the eyebrows. Precise placement with the correct depth is a developed skill at Chíc Aesthetics! Remember these medicines will SOFTEN the appearance of lines.
Both neuromodulators offered at Chíc Aethestics are approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for aesthetics in the following areas:

OnabotulinumtoxinA (BOTOX® Cosmetic) - Moderate to severe glabellar lines, moderate to severe lateral canthal lines (ie, crow’s feet), moderate to severe forehead lines manifested through frontalis muscle activity.

PrabotulinumtoxinA (Jeuveau®) - Moderate to severe glabellar lines.

Pre & Post Treatment Advice:
PRE-TREATMENT
Try to schedule your treatment 2-3 weeks prior to any event or vacation to give time for any touch-ups that may be needed. Mild bruising may occur anytime a needle enters the skin.
Try to avoid any non-steroidal medication like ibuprofen (if possible) to avoid any additional risk of bruising (4-hours for ibuprofen-like Aleve or Motrin; 7 days prior for aspirin only if medically cleared).

Avoid alcohol 24 hours prior to injection. Taking homeopathic Arnica Montana (any form) may help reduce the risk of bruising. Headaches may occur the day after relaxation of facial injections. This sometimes occurs with the facial muscles adjusting to not being able to contract the same way due to the relaxation.
Taking any over the counter medication will help (like Tylenol). We must wait two weeks after injection for mopheus8 treatment.
POST-TREATMENT
Avoid any massage, pressure, or touching (EYE WAXING) of the treatment area(s) for 48 hours after injection. These activities may alter the placement of the neurotoxin, causing undesirable results.

Avoid facials, waxing, and massage appointments for 48 hours after injection. No straining, heavy lifting, vigorous exercise for 4 hours after injection. Light forms of exercise such as walking are permitted.
Small red whelp-like bumps (resembling a mosquito bite) will be present on the skin after injection. These will resolve and disappear within 15-30 minutes after injection. If applying makeup after injection, use a brush to apply foundation or powder. Avoid rubbing the treatment sites.

Adverse reactions, Contraindications & Precautions:
Adverse reactions:
Because this medication is given at the site of your concerned area, most of the side effects occur close to where the medication is injected. Although rare, chronic redness, prolonged bruising, infection, and pain at the injection site may occur. Double vision, drooping of eyelid or eyebrow, swollen eyelid, eye irritation, dry eyes, tearing, reduced blinking, asymmetry, and increased sensitivity to light may also occur.

Contraindications/Precautions:
Hypersensitivity to any botulinum toxin preparation or to any of the components in the formulation.
Pregnant or Breastfeeding
Infection at the injection site or had any side effect from any botulinum toxin product in the past.
Have any neuromuscular disease that affects your muscles and nerves (such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis [ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease], myasthenia gravis, Guillain Barre or Lambert-Eaton syndrome).
Have or have had a breathing problem, such as severe untreated asthma or emphysema, swallowing problems, bleeding problems, plan to have surgery or facial work completed within the next 4 months, have any history of facial surgery, have any trouble with vision due to drooping eyelids.

Black Box Warning: Distant Spread Of Toxin Effect
The effects of BOTOX Cosmetic and all botulinum toxin products may spread from the area of injection to produce symptoms consistent with botulinum toxin effects. These symptoms have been reported hours to weeks after injection. Swallowing and breathing difficulties can be life threatening and there have been reports of death. The risk of symptoms is probably greatest in children treated for spasticity, but symptoms can also occur in adults, particularly in those patients who have an underlying condition that would predispose them to these symptoms. Below is the link for both Jeuveau and Botox websites to stay current on any additional information & complete boxed warning.
